Vehicle Interface Force Testing

  • Interface Solution

    Interface’s SMTM Micro S-Type Load Cells were installed behind the bezel mount points of the vehicle’s touchscreen interface, with Load Cell Load Buttons passing through each load cell to secure both the load cell and the screen assembly. When the user tapped the screen, the SMTM measured the contact force, and the analog output was captured through the compact, high-speed 9330 indicator. The measurements can be captured using the 9330 Battery Powered High Speed Data Logging Indicator through an SD card, or another laptop directly.

    With Interface’s force measurement solution, the automotive system could accurately detect user touch input and provide haptic feedback confirmation.

How it Works


  1. The SMTM Micro S-Type Load Cells are mounted behind the bezel attachment points of the vehicle’s interface or display, with Load Cell Load Buttons passing through each sensor to secure the assembly.
  2. When the driver taps the display surface, the SMTM’s measure the applied contact force.
  3. The SMTM’s are connected to the 9330 Battery Powered High Speed Data Logging Indicator, with included BlueDAQ software, where force results from the touch-pad test can be captured using an SD card, then displayed on another PC or laptop.
